I often find introductions awkward.

Think about it.

Be it in written form or directly speaking to a person/audience, you are essentially casting a spotlight upon yourself in hopes of illuminating details that you pray others find appealing.

So here’s mine.

Hi. I’m Hope, and yes there is a story behind my name.  I am the middle child and coincidentally the “black sheep” of the family. We can dive into all of that later.

In high school, I was a good student, athletic and well known. I had many Skeletons in my closet and went toe-to-toe with my demons on a regular basis.  I attended several colleges and changed my major five times before I graduated. As luck would have it, I failed to see these patterns of indecisiveness and stepped out into the “real world” still clueless as to what I wanted to do.  After five years of “figuring it out”, I landed in the classroom.

I'm in double digits in my teaching career now, which is beyond astonishing to me. I’ve hopped from the classroom to the gym, teaching Fahrenheit 451 one period to how to properly execute a push-up the next. I’ve blown my whistle up and down a basketball court and froze my butt off out on the softball diamond and track.

I  am a hardcore introvert, but I love conversations with students. Speaking in public is a paralyzing fear- but in the confines of my small classroom, I perform everyday without hesitation.

I think that is proficient for now.
